USEFUL INFORMATION FOR A SUCCESSFUL STAY

Locks

The entry door is equipped with a keypad. The code to the front door was sent to you in messages and is unique to your stay.  Please lock and secure the doors whenever the house is left unattended. There are a total of two outside doors. Please make sure they are all shut and locked before leaving.

Heat

The primary source of heat are the cadet wall heaters located throughout the home.  Each heater has its own thermostat. Please turn them down to 50 degrees upon permanently leaving. There are additional space heaters throughout the house to take the chill off a particular room. You are welcome to use them, but please make sure they are unplugged before leaving to avoid a fire.

Cooling

There is no central AC at the house as the trees and elevation typically provide enough cooling alone. You are welcome to open the windows to cool things down. Just be sure the screens are secure so no bugs get in and that all windows are closed upon leaving. Best practice in the summer months is to open the windows at night and shut them in the morning when it starts to warm up. There are also a few fans scattered throughout the house for those rare days that it does get warmer than is comfortable.

Towels

White towels are for bathing and showering. The colored towels are for hot tub use. Please reuse towels to conserve energy. Please do not use the white or colored bath or hand towels for makeup removal. Please start a load of white or colored towels (whichever is larger) washing upon checkout. Do not put black towels in the wash and do not mix towel colors please.

Bedding

Each bed has a mattress cover, sheets, and a bedspread. Additional blankets are provided for your convenience. Should you need extras during your stay, they can be found in the drawers and cupboards as labeled. If you end up using a bed and/or bedding, please leave the bedding unmade so we know which linens to wash for the next guest.

Cooking

Full kitchen facilities and needed utensils, tools, pots/pans, bowls, etc. are provided for your use. Feel free to use anything you need to cook. Please clean up after yourself.

Grill

The grill is located on the deck. Please do not move it from its place. Turn on the propane at the bottle. The igniter does not always work, so feel free to use a long-stemmed lighter (in Misc drawer) to light the grill. If you turn on the gas and the burners do not light immediately. Turn off the gas and let it clear before trying again. Clean the cooking surface, and be sure to leave it as you found it (including turning off the propane at the bottle).

Laundry

A washer and dryer are provided. You are welcome to use them for your personal items as well as used house towels/linens. Washing pods are provided as well as dryer sheets. Please clean the lint trap before each use. Turn to the desired setting and hit the start button to begin a load.

Fire Pit

The fire pit is for your use and is located in the backyard. Please do not leave flame unattended and be sure to douse it with water (hose provided) when done. Wood is provided.  Do not use any trees (even dead ones) on or near the property.   Please do not leave the hose attached to the house during the winter as it will freeze the pipes. Enjoy.

Bears and Wildlife

This is Glacier Park Country. Yes, we get wildlife (even at the house), and yes, there are bears in the area. The likelihood of you seeing a bear at the house is small, but please be “Bear Aware” by not leaving food items out (including in coolers or grill). Moose and other wildlife are not to be underestimated. They are wild, dangerous animals and should be respected. Enjoy your time in nature, but be safe please!

Pets

Up to 2 dogs (sorry no other pets allowed at this time) may stay at the property.  Provided are two, large (30W X 48L X 32 H) crates with soft beds, a water and food bowl, and doggie poop bags.  All other items you need will need to be brought with you. We ask that you please control your pets and help us to allow pets into the future.  Please keep them off the furniture (including couches, chairs, and beds).  Never leave pets unattended in the home. Keep them leashed at all times when outdoors (there are other animals – including horses – in the neighborhood) and PLEASE clean up their ‘business’ outside.  We want to keep it fresh and clean for the next folks.  An additional cleaning fee is charged for pets, but please help us by vacuuming up any hair sheds and keeping the house nice.  Of course, you will be responsible for any damage that you or your pet may cause.  We love pets and are excited to host you

HOT TUB INFORMATION

Whether it is after an eventful day visiting Glacier, or after a long day of skiing, coming back to a soak in the hot tub can be just what the doctor ordered. However, there are a few things to know about the hot tub to keep it ready for your use and the use of those to follow.

  • Please help maintain the cleanliness of the tub by quickly showering before you enter
  • Only use the colored towels for the hot tub (white towels are for bathing and showering)
  • The hot tub should already be hot, clean, and found with the lid on
  • Please carefully remove the lid using the lift assist system (it takes two people to do this safely)
  • Though the tub is already warm, it can get as high as 104 degrees.  When it is cold outside, the temperature can drop quickly with the lid off.  Help reduce cooling, by starting with it hot, only take off the lid halfway if 2 persons are using it, do not get in and out of the tub frequently, and do not introduce snow/ice to the water
  • To increase or decrease the temperature, use the up and down arrows
  • The jets, led lights, and heater can all be run at the same time, but not for long periods of time
  • The deck and steps can be very slippery when wet, so please be careful
  • Please do not leave children unattended in the tub area and if you are elderly or pregnant, please consult a doctor
  • The security cameras are pointed at the entry and exit doors only and do not include the hot tub area in the frame.  Trust us, we do not want to see you anymore than you want to be seen 😉
  • Please do not sit/stand or put heavy objects on the hot tub cover as it will break

IN AN EMERGENCY OR IN CASE OF FIRE: The shut off for the hot tub is mounted near the tub. The breaker for the tub electricity is just behind the back door. Fire extinguisher is mounted near the kitchen.

If the caretaker is unavailable in an urgent situation, feel free to reach out to the Housekeeper, Ashley at 406-885-7591.

GLACIER NATIONAL PARK

This is why you came, right? Glacier National Park is one of the caregivers’ happy places. It is a magical land with waterfalls, lakes, amazing vistas, numerous hikes, wildlife, natural beauty, and memories to be made. We truly hope you enjoy your time in the Park!

Glacier is 6.9 miles or 7 minutes from the house. Just head North on Highway 2 to West Glacier- you can’t miss it. There is an entrance fee associated with the Park, so be sure to check the latest rates. In the winter, all things change, so keep up with everything through the National Park website.
